The trip to the Four Story Cabin prompted me to search for the photo of the unusual cabin below.

On November 17, 2009, Dan Weese and I made a slight detour and visited the cabin that his parents built in the woods outside Barrington, IL....

Note the charred siding at the through-wall vent.

This sprawling lodge grew up around a single room log cabin, alongside a creek and facing Lake Michigan.
